Spotlight Program

Our Performance Team is an exciting opportunity for our dancers to take the stage more and represent our studio throughout the community! All District Dance dancers ages 8+ are eligible to participate on our Performance Team. Performance Team dancers will perform in multiple local events throughout the school year such as parades and festivals. Throughout the season, they will learn multiple routines to perform at these events during their scheduled weekly rehearsal time. The Performance Team will begin in August with our regular weekly classes and end in late June.

The competitive program gives our dancers multiple opportunities to be on stage in a professional environment and throughout the community. Through challenging technique classes and high-energy team rehearsals, our dancers learn how to work together, support their fellow dancers, focus under pressure, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This training is invaluable today as it allows our young dancers to build their self-esteem, grow more confident, improve their public speaking, and become contributing members of our community and society.

We offer a variety of styles within each age group including jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and musical theatre.

• Performance Team – ages 8+ (all levels)
• Mini Team – ages 5-7 (all levels)
• Petite Team – ages 8+ (beginner to intermediate dancers)
• Junior Team – ages 10+ (beginner to intermediate dancers)
• Travel Select Team – ages 8+ (intermediate to advanced dancers)

Each team is required to attend weekly technique classes. As a dancer gets more advanced, additional technique classes are required in order to remain competitive and focused on their growth as a dancer.

Below are the current requirements for all teams.

Performance Team - Jazz or ballet class and one weekly rehearsal class.

Mini Team - Team jazz class and mini team rehearsal. Acro and/or ballet are recommended.

Regional Team - One ballet class, one team jazz class, acro class, and at least two rehearsals.

Travel Select Team - Must be enrolled in our Unlimited Plan and take at least ballet, jazz, acro, and lyrical/contemporary. Weekly rehearsals will be based on the number of dances the dancer competes. Most travel team dancers compete 4-8 dances.
